Psilocybin & Neurogenesis

Neurogenesis

*0.30 grams of Psilocybe Cubensis

  • (11:30) ingestion begins
  • (12:30) wondering if it’s worth it to try translating any trip/experience into words “while” it’s happening. Words are products of the aftermath. To enjoy the moment, to watch the self-replicating dots of light dance with the circular void is too beautiful to turn away from with pen and paper. To listen to the metallic extra-dimensional qualities of music as it pulsates into my eardrums with enhanced perception, this IS the experience, words ARE the aftermath.

Psilocybin & Neurogenesis

Been interested in the idea/research i’ve been reading lately that psilocybin is a pure catalyst of neurogenesis within the human brain, creating/birthing new neurons and pathways to linking experience and memory within the animal subject. I question whether more conscious learning (even physical calculation of new brain cells) would take place at lower daily doses (possibly spaced out by 2 or 3 days in between dosing) or if higher more “heroic” doses would give the user more of a healing experience without control of his mental mouse clicker at doses of 2-5 dried grams.

Let me put this in a question. Does the Psilocybin Mushroom have a more natural healing process within the subject at higher doses? Or is it possible to physically alter brain chemistry/neurogenesis at sub-psychotropic levels by daily dosing small amounts of the chemical like a sewage nootropic? The idea doesn’t seem too far fetched to me, but over time would the brain get so used to the input of Psilocybin that it would become dependent upon it? Would the normal serotonin-induced reality we inhabit lose its appeal or would Psilocybin enhance one’s ability to cope with the social/physical world in a much clearer realm of being? This could birth/emerge a new mindset that is more beneficial for the optimal survival and lifestyle of our race on this planet in our steps forward towards evolutionary transcendence. We must seek truth.

  1. I have only used them once….since before I became a mamma…I am not sure if using so frequently would be possible for most vessels…wouldn’t it take away the challenge of finding it within ourselves without daily use? Though Ayahuasca is used very often in ceremony…it gets to the point that the shaman barley needs any for they are on that wavelength almost constantly…so then maybe it’s the same thing…the mushrooms are so sacred….I got a book called Sacred Mushrooms of the Goddess…it’s about the secrets of Eleusis…”Only a new Eleusis could help mankind to survive the threatening catastrophe in Nature and human society and bring a new period of happiness” -Albert Hofmann (personal conversation to Carl Ruck)

It was so secret you could not tell anyone back in those times …I do feel that it should be used a few times a year at the least…these next few years I have a lot of discoveries within myself I want to make…

  2. After several psychedelic experiences with mushrooms, LSA (ergot mold), Salvia Divinorium, and some of the 2C family, I am fully convinced that the research being done by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is totally right and these substances are tools to unlocking parts of our consciousness. LSD is very useful for end of life counseling, MDMA is the best thing we’ve come across for treatment resistant PTSD because it lets you face your fears honestly, and Psilocybin has applicability for anxiety and more. These aren’t evil drugs, they are tools humanity has used to help guide our evolution, like cannabis. Why would we have receptors for the chemicals in our bodies if we did not evolve for their use?

Psilocybin isn’t the only neurogenic compound, the cannabinoid cannabidiol also promotes the growth of new brain cells.

Check out my blog on CBD for some of the research on it: http://wellsuitedforlife.com/2013/11/14/cannabinoid-profile-cbd/

Maybe consider some CBD in your experimenting. I am toying with my own micro-evolution through cannabis use. I started young while my brain was still developing (no undoing that now), thankfully I am in a medical cannabis state and have the power to do that. Rather than simply smoking pot I am using a very specific blend of tinctures primarily rich in CBD, CBG, THCa, and THC. My interest is more in the non-psychoactive cannabinoids. If you aren’t familiar with it there is a theory known as the Stoned Ape Theory which observes humans saw a dramatic growth in brain development in the same time period we first discovered and began cultivating cannabis. I feel a vast improvement to my cognitive abilities before starting and my standardized test scores seem to show it (sub-par SATs, 99th percentile in my GRE; bad grades pre-University/cannabis much better grades after). It could be any number of confounding variables, but I would say anecdotally that cannabis creates new neural pathways.

  3. I’m using low dose psilocybin to aid recovery from neurological disease (neuroborreliosis) and it’s phenomenally helpful.
